Darklight Cinemas Classics: Hocus Pocus
Get your gross fleshy spellbooks out because we’re kicking off the festival with Halloween favorite Hocus Pocus, which currently holds the record for the most Bette Midler spittle in one movie (only narrowly beating Beaches). This is an interactive experience so c’mon by dressed as a Sanderson sister or any of your favorite Hocus Pocus characters: the zombie with dry mouth, the talking cat that got typecast a couple years later in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the mom who’s mostly known for liking Madonna a little too much, the horny old man dressed in a devil costume, or the angry wife of the horny old man dressed in a devil costume. Also, we’re mixing custom themed cocktails together to make it feel like we’re all enjoying the SAME pot of boiling schoolkids. By the way, for this opening night screening, feel free to make comments or jokes or clumsily “fly” around your room riding a bulky vacuum cleaner without judgment. Merry Witchmas, everyone! —Chris Newth
